I think my pinion shaft bearing on the rear end is going. There is play in the yoke side to side and I have a growling sound on light throttle. It also is slightly warm to the touch after a drive, just warm enough to dry the rain off it.
How hard is it to change out yourself with average tools and some mechanical skills. Do you need special tools? I may just send it in and pay the $$$$ but I prefer to do the work myself.
