I just hit 100 thousand on my dakota 4 cylinder truck. but the past 10K I've noticed that the engine is pinging, not loud but a sutle ping. Someone told me that the valves over time lossen and they need to be tighten.
Is this true? if so is it easy to tighten? and how much do I tighten? I'm sure I'll need to get a torque rench.

I'm not sure about the valves but try using a full tank of premium gas. If the pinging stops then you wouldn't have to worry about the valve issue.

have you ever cleaned the carbon build up out with a product like Seafoam ?
