I bought a code reader today, and when I scanned I got a p0720 code. Output shaft speed sensor. This is an inexpensive part that is easy to change from what I've read. My question is this: what if anything does this sensor have to do with the way the tranny shifts? Will it cause erratic shifts or stacking of shifts? What is this sensors function? Thanks in advance !

It tells the computer the transmission output shaft speed. If the sensor goes bad,the computer will see 0 RPM's and the transmission won't upshift because the computer thinks the vehicle is sitting still.

Thanks again tactransman. For no more than the part costs i would have changed it regardless, but was curious as to its function.
