She has a car and i dont even think its a dodge but since the guys on here are pretty skilled and have good suggestions i thought id ask. A friend of mine at work took her car in for an oil change 3k miles ago...she returned last week for another one and they told her that her dipstick handle had broken off and the stick fell down inside the tube. I know she didnt do it since she doesnt check her oil ever and prob doesnt even know how to open the hood. anyone have any ideas on how to pull the old stick out so she can put the new one she bought in? She asked if i could help her out and save her from having to leave the car at the dealer. I have a magnet tool and a felxible claw but i dont think either will fit in the tube... they only go in my tube about a 1/2 inch. If you look in the tube with a flashlight you can just see the tip of the stick and a portion of the yellow handle that broke off.

I have a long telescoping magnet that look like a screwdriver handle and the magnet is on the other end with a small extending rod in between, kinda like the antenna on a boombox radio. It should be small enough to get down there and should bend some to get it. I mean it might bend it and ruin it but the little tool is a lot cheaper than going to the shop. Might be worth a shot.
You could pull the tube out of the oil pan or the block, whichever it is mounted to. Be careful for any orings that may fall out. As you pull the tube out, just slide the dipstick up and out and then reinstall. BTW, some dipsticks are held in with a bracket so it depends on the car.
You should be fine emt, just spray penetratin lubricant to make sure the oring is nice and soft. Then just wiggle it out gently, pull out the stick, and reinstall. Done it many times on trannys, having to take the dipstick tube out to overhaul/replace. Just make sure it is lubed up good(white lithium grease works great). You'll be fine
