You’ll hear the exhaust drone inside the cab; mostly at highway speeds. That’s why Dodge placed the resonator in the exhaust system; to control the drone.

Honestly, you'll know it when you have it (or hear it). It's a...well....."drone".....that you can hear while you're driving down the road. Like the poster above noted, it usually occurs at highway speeds - and (almost) always with aftermarket exhaust components installed.

It's like when a famous Supreme Court justice said he didn't know how to define pornography, but he certainly knows it when he sees it.

i haven't put a exhaust system in my new ram, but did have one in my other ram, flowmaster 70 series, 4.7L, 3" single pipe out the back, hidden exhaust...maybe i had the "drone" but didn't realize it or notice it...

IDK, we'll see...leaning towards a Magnaflow muffler or a Flowmaster 50HD so far...:rck:

If you had aftermarket exhaust - you'd hear a "rumble" or "Note" at about 2300+ RPM.

Why a Flowmaster 50? Don't you have a Hemi? Hemi's need to be heard and need to sound angry. Go with a Flowmaster 40

makes sense, kind of like when you have to talk a little louder at certain points of acceleration or cruising speeds...

I'll fill in a little more info,.. it can happen as low as 1850rpm,.. depending on if you are in od or not cruising.

For me it was around 2000rpm,.. and would give me a headache within 5min of driving.

if u had flowmaster 70 on ur previous ram, u probably didnt have any drone. like me, and i like it that way. i'd rather get a no drone exhaust, and cutouts for when the "hemi needs to be heard and sound angry". cutouts will make a flowmaster 40 $hit its pants

i agree, a flowmaster 40 was one the first thing i did to my truck and it sounded good on a stock truck. then after a while i did more and more ended up with long tube headers, offroad y-pipe into a 3'' in dual 2.25 out flowmaster 40 series that was starting to sound so raspy, also sounded liek the chambers inside were comming appart or somthing. switched over to a 50 series and its actaully alot nicer to drive isnt so damn loud. but then agian i have a cutout so i can be heard when i want to.
