im thinking about removing my cats and welding a pipe in its place.. and keeping my stock muffler???any trouble with that??

Safe bet to say is you will throw a code, because the cats won't be there to filter the exhaust gases, and will probably clog your 02 sensors.

huh? Remove the stock muffler... Its a much larger restriction than the cats... That and any resonators (if you have them)...
