Nitrous help for beginners?

201 Views 8 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  black hemi bee
Can anyone recomend a good nitrous kit for a 04 hemi. I also need some info for tuning, timing, fuel etc. Do I need a chip to do it right ie: safely?
I was thinking about a zex dry kit?? Any suggestions? I'd like to be a bit more competitive with the lightnings.
Thanks

Do NOT use a dry kit on the Hemi.... a lot of guys are running the Zex kit with good results but my vote is for the NX kit...

it is a good idea to run the 87 octane program if you are running a handheld or stock settings. You want to run retarded timing rather than advanced with NOS..
oh and btw.... if you want to be more competitive with Lightnings... forget the 20s much less the 22s..... every 1 lb of rotating mass = 7 lbs of static mass... One of my largest drops in ET came from going from 20s to aftermarket 17s..

Can you manually retard the timing on a hemi without a programer/tuner? If so how do you do it? As far as the wheel size I know it cuts down performance by add weight but I really like the look of the srt 10 wheels on these trucks and I HATE the factory chrome 20's. So I want something else soon.
get some cool 17's like these

Yeah I like those a lot better the chrome plated "flowers" that I have now! You want to trade????LOL But seriously I'm already looking for a set of srt 10 wheels/tires. So I guess I'll wait and see what I turn up with that.

What shots sizes did you use?? With a Speed Density system it will be very easy to lean out a dry shot...

Well judging from what I have learned from my research so far this afternoon I'm going to go with a wet system. It's just a matter of company and price at this point.
