I picked up a 1985 ramcharger 4x4 with a 318 and am attempting to daily drive it. Became obvious after playing with it a bit that it has a clogged catalytic converter. I want to fix this issue by removing the exhaust system after the Y and maybe slapping a glass pack on it. I was told however that if I do this I will die, and natural selection etc. I found out the guy was talking about the tubes that run from the rear of the exhaust manifolds to the catalytic converter. Can I go about completing my plan by just leaving those tubes in place and clamping the line to the cat up somewhere underneath? Any ideas to accomplish this would be much appreciated.
