i have a stock 05 ram 1500 QC, 2WD, with a hemi and the 17" wheels and my boss at work has an 06 siverado, reg cab, 2WD, 5.3 liter engine. he has a bedcover but as far as i know its completely stock. anyway, we happened to leave at the same time today and we ran em when we got to a passing lane and his truck has a good bit faster ( he pulled away more than id like ). im trying to find the curb weight of his truck and the weight of mine but i cant find them online. anybody know them. thats the only reason i can think that he would pull on me that bad. i need a chip and torque converter BIG TIME

according to N.A.D.A your curb weight is approximently 4761, but most likely arond 5000lbs. your boss's truck is approximently 4211. i would guess by depending how far he pulled away, this is probably the reason he did. just couris how far did he pull away and what mph did you start at.
started around 60mph and side by side, by 95mph his truck was completely ahead of mine. he hit his a second before mine got downshifted but not enough to count really
thats a bummer man you should get in on the group buy that is going on right now on tq converters, look for it in this section.
i wish i could but it will be a few months before i can afford one even at the GB price. i will prob end up buying a used superchips programmer first since thats a good bit cheaper
good point if you were closer to el paso i would say buy a cam and we could install it and that will show alot of gain.
Well, your truck definitely weighs more than his - which has a lot to do with running em. But I'd verify he was stock, my guess is that he has something you don't know about.
he probably does, he has a lil money that he can put into his. whats the biggest cam that we can put in our hemi without having to do anything else like an ARC1 or valvesprings ? how much rwhp does that cam add ? i HAVE GOT to smoke that chevy. lol

agreed as i usually can run really close to most reg cab stock chevys. im usually ahead of them by about a truck legnth. but then i really cant gain any more on them after that or i quit
i have an air ram power wire on the way. next.. a decent CAI, power scoop, programmer, torque converter, and a 6.1 cam..... i will smoke his ace
there you go thats the way to do it.

1st what in the world is your name im tired of typing ppls usernames (my name is cris) lol
2nd I live in east texas so you're pretty far away but you think there would be some way we could meet up and install it if i get one?
yeah that will be enough to smoke him..... then i can get into headers, y-pipe, gears, elec fan, nitrous....... ha ha ha
PUT THE pacesetter longtube headers + y-pipe and the elec fan towards the top of your list sir.
If I were you, I'd get gears for low end, a cam to help your top end, headers to let your engine breathe, and a programmer to tune it all (Superchips will work). Keep in mind, he can start modding his truck and probably surpass you - but this will definitely get you going in the right direction.
why put those above the cam, programmer, and torque converter ?
but wont the torque converter help with both take off and top end, and make future mods more effective ?
I'd say gears because they shouldn't be too expensive on your 2wd, and they'll kick ass down low. They'll also help with more than just racing - like towing and mpg around town. Keep in mind, something like 4.56's isn't going to do much for your top end speed, which is why I think a cam will help a lot. Adding a cam also requires a good set of headers to keep everything flowing well. And if you have a cam, say a 6.1 cam for example, a Superchips (or other tuner which allows you to raise the rev limiter) will kick ass.

A torque converter is great and will help you launch a lot better. But I am not sure how much a torque converter does for you 65-100 mph. I think it is more of a mod that produces results down low.

well my name is chris too...
anyway yeah we can work something out its not a big deal. if your buying gas ill head on out.(ill drive the HONDA so that it will save you on gas prices) i just need to know about 2 weeks in advance as ill be needing to take some time off from work.
i wouldnt put them above the cam but somewhere not too long ago someone was saying how the longtubes compliment the cam very well and let that engine breathe and these hemis love to breathe. if i were you i would do programmer, cam, longtubes + y-pipe, electric cutout, electric fan, tq converter.
