Changing the thermostat on 2003 4.7 liter Ram. One of the thermostat housing bolts is in sad shape and I would like to replace it. Does anyone know the size?

It looks like a 1/4 inch fine thread 1.25 inches long but Im not so sure that it is? Or are they metric? I do not want to have to go to dodge to get another bolt if possible.

Also is it true that you can use a thermostat from the old 5.9 liter in the 4.7 and just drill a jiggle valve type hole and in this way can attain a 180 degree thermostat?

Thanks,

Steve.

Take one of the other bolts and head to Autozone/Kragen etc. They have a variety of automotive bolts/clips/pins etc in stock. You may be able to match it up. Its what I did when I needed bolts for my hood mount.
