I have a 1968 Dodge Charger with a 383, auto, electronic ignition and MSD 6A ignition box. Occasionally, the car will just shut off like turning off the ignition. It starts right back up. I replaced the ignition switch, but it didn't cure the problem. What do you suggest I look at next?

Do you have a mechanical voltage regulator. If so I would check it or convert to an electronic type, the factory did before they went to electronic ignition.

It's possible to hook up the MSD control box in series with the electronic MoPar Control unit. Did you use the control unit with your MSD box? Or do you mean an eletronic distributor?

i have seen ballast resistors do that before. as a matter of fact i carry a spare one with me in the tool box.
