I bought a not so perdy 1990 dodge ram for 200$ with a great running 318 but a bad tranny. The body is decent and completely rust free but has whiskey dents all up and down it. It was clearly a work truck most of it's life. Anyway, I decided that I don't have time to fix it up and I really want a late 70s 4x4 Power Wagon so I'm not gunna waste my time and money on it. Then the rancher next to us said I can have his 1978 Dodge pick up with a slant 6 and a 4 speed. Now I'm thinking that I want to pull the motor in the 1990 and put it in the 1978 with the 4 speed.

Sounds sweet, but will the motor bolt to that tranny?

The slant 6s and V8s had different bellhousings? But I can get a 78 V8 bellhousing and that will fit?

What four speed is in the truck, 833 overdrive or the NP 435.

That's for a A-833 4-spd trans, probably an OD unit judging the size of the hole. If the '78 truck you are getting has an 833, that should fit it. If it has the NP-435 granny 4-spd, that won't fit.

OK Thanks for the info. I think he did say it was a granny low. Would they put a granny low in a slant six half ton?
