Got my mirrors painted

Was going to go with textured but I didn't like the results even though my wife did

So having used up all my Paint Scratch rattle cans

I had to get the pros to do it

First I wiped them down with a degreaser ,then used Bulldog Adhesion primer than a coat of regular primer ( mistake didn't need it ) and then the body color and then a clearcoat

Let me tell you that paint adhered cause I had to sand it all off

220 --320--then 400

What a pain that paint was like it was bonded on

Anyway after final sanding I took them ( in parts) to the pros around the corner and for $85 they did a great job

Cowl is next

I may do that textured but leave out the 2nd primer step

looks great!!!! How did you like trying to put them back together and trying not to scratch the paint in the process????? I was cursing quite a bit when I did mine!!!!

I like the looks of that A LOT! I want to do that and paint the handles. Too bad i dont really know any body shop guys. I might have to go look around and meet some because i really like how that looks!

It was easy

Guy on another site gave me the secret

You put the glass in last

That way you can see to pop the tabs ( mine had 3 ) that hold the back to the front

Then you pop the glass in last rather than the glass first
No sweat

5 minutes tops each one

I remembered what you had posted previously and was glad for his hint

I never took my glass out!!! The reason for the headache,I prevailed but it took a little longer trying to be careful!!!

at first i didnt care for the two tone on the truck, but that looks awesome.. everythign just comes together so perfectly on that truck.. sweet man.. maybe give it a drop and some nice rims.

Yeah that and the Air Dam and Fog Light Inserts

Used the Adhesion promoter on them

Dropped look great but I like sitting up high

Wife likes my rims and she will be needing tires in about 5000 miles I might put mine on hers and get myself some 20s

I did a 2/4 and i like to sit high as well. DUDE, the truck still sits like it had nothing done to it. It still feels way up in the air. Id do it!!!!

Personally I'd get the door handles painted too and lose the chrome covers. The mirrors came out great!

Now I remember why I took a break from this site. It was forcing me to spend too much money. I have a set of spare mirrors and door handles I was/am going to send out to get painted. But I completely forgot about them till just now. Now it's back on my list of stuff to do.

Damn, time for another break already.
