I had problems with the stock lugs "swelling". I replaced them with solid chrome plated 3/4" lugs.

 

Maybe that's my problem...lol. I wouldn't know for sure since I've never had to remove any of the wheels in an emergency situation with the lug wrench that came with my truck.

Does yours work on your new lugnuts?

 

It does fit (would only use it in an emergency). I use a 4 way wrench if I'm removing the wheels for any other reason (tire rotation, mechanical work). Also use a torque wrench and socket to tighten them.

 

Factory lugnuts from 03+ are 21mm. Chrysler uses alot of jacketed lugnuts (stainless steel cover over steel). As stated previously, they can swell or in most cases, the jacket starts to loosen over time from install and removal.

 

Since my curiosity was getting the better of me, I just decided to say the hell with it and go outside and mess with it to see what fits and what don't....lol.

Turns out the 22mm socket has to be the one I've been using all along because the 21mm wouldn't even slide over lugnuts....lol. Well, maybe with the help of hammer but certainly not with ease.

Maybe 21mm was the standard for some vehicles but certainly not on mine. I say this because I found out my lug wrench fits with hardly no bind or grab at all, almost the same feel as an actual 7/8ths socket. The 22mm I've always used worked, but it always gets stuck whether I use my electric impact or my torque wrench.

Maybe my lugnuts have gotten swollen a little bit over time but if they have, you'd think my lugwrench that came with the truck would have a much tighter fit as well.

Good info. Typically the factory lug wrench on most Chrysler products is not a snug fit (thank you China for your quality control). In most cases with factory jacketed lug-nuts, if you lose the jacket, the factory wrench will barely work. If they are on to tight you usually end up rounding the corners. This has been my experience over the years.

Those are nice. With the exception of the style of locking lug nuts, those actually look like stock.

I'm kinda curious what longer, that style of lugnuts would look like. I'd like for them to protrude out a little farther.
