Can't track it down. 1985 dodge ram b250. Transmission is shaking but the van runs fine. No slipping and shifts fine. Loudest in neutral and park and drive. Not in reverse. Although 2nd gear did take a while
Any ideas?

Did you just buy it recently like that ?
Or have you owned it for a while and the problem has just started happening ?

Check over your exhaust system and or motor mounts---it may be hitting someplace and transmitting thru the vehicle--no torque on engine may aggravate it while in forward gear engine torque winds in a specific direction (some noise)--when in reverse gear torque is reversed (no noise)----everything flexes and if something is wore or moved causing clearances to be reduced---in addition torque converter bolts may be loose---bell-housing loose on engine or missing bolts including bolts loose on motor mounts--also any one or more of trans/motor mounts broke---this is a shot in the dark but for S&G check damper pulley

You need to get under it and inspect your flexplate, it's possible a weight is loose and hitting the housing. I've seen cases where a balance weight broke loose and cause all kinds of chaos.
