anyone know a good place to get a new exhaust system for meh beloved 97 5.2L? wanna get one that adds horses, has a deep tone (think stock, only louder with better sound at idle) and, of course, offers better gas mileage... gotta shoot for under $400, im on a tight budget...

if your on a budget this is what i did and it cost me 80 dollars in all, and is one of the best sounding, and most performance gaining exhausts that i have seen. i cut off my muffler right behind it, and i gutted my cat. then i took it down to my local muffler shop, and he welded a glasspack, and put a pipe going out of the side of my truck, right in front of my tire. included in that price was a chrome 3.5 inch tip to.

you can order a magnaflow high flow system ($150) and order a flowmaster ($70) to go on the end then have it welded with turn downs for less than $50.
The magnaflow comes with the y-pipe, high flow cat, and about 2-3 feet of tubing after the cat, all stainless steel.
I have mine dumped right before the rear axel and it sounds really good. Specially sitting at a red light, the sound echoes off the pavement. Still quiet enough to talk with the windows up.

got the magnaflow setup from http://www.hottexhaust.com/search_r...arch=&subcat=111-bottom&iLevel=2&txtCatName=2

the flowmaster I had bought from summit a while ago...it's a flowmaster 40.
sounds good, almost too loud with the headers though. If I had bought the muffler after the headers I would've went with a slightly quieter setup.
