Is there an easy way to tell if a timing belt has been changed?

I'm trying to flip a Caravan I bought on line. It's a 2005 with 92000 miles -- a former fleet vehicle. A perspective buyer asked "When/if the timing belt was changed, other than tearing the engine open to see"? I did not buy this from the company that leased it so I do not have access to the records.

Thanks for the help. Hawg

i could almost say with certainty that it hadn't been because it shouldn't have one. It probably has either the 3.3 or 3.8 liter, both of which have chains that do not need replacing. good luck....
Thanks Wangus! You're awesome. It has a 3.3L.
timing belt question

Hi,

What does a 97 Caravan 3.0L have? Is it a belt or a chain?

Thanks
Belt
the 3.0 engines have belt driven timing belts

the only way to determine if the belt has been changed is to pull the cover (s)off and actually examine the belt to see how new it looks or rather what condition it is in

I changed the belt in my 3.0 last winter but for the life of me I cannot recall if one can take a part of 3 piece timing belt cover off to examine the belt
