How can you tell if the plastic intercooler is leaking, what are some signs and what to look for? Where is the usual place for these to start leaking? Sometimes I shut the truck off and I can hear a hissing sound coming from the passenger front side. Mine has the plastic tank.

If your intercooler has broken a seal, you won't have any power, as the turbo is not able to build any boost. My guess is that you hear the A/C compressor. It's especially noticable if you leave the A/C on when you turn the truck off.

I agree w/Hemi Freak..........could be the a/c or defroster causing the noises.

If you still feel it's a possible intercooler leak, get a spray bottle and mix up a soapy solution (dishwashing detergent & water) and spray around the tanks (sides) of the intercooler, then check for bubbles.

If its not the A/C, then it could be the turbo spooling down. After you shut down, the momentum will keep the impellers spinning for a couple extra seconds as the pressure drops.
