Recently purchased my 97 dodge ram extended cab pk and the overhead display shows the compass heading and outside temperature, but when I press the "comp/temp" button on the left side, the display turns off. I was thinking that pressing the comp/temp button would toggle through the gas mileage computer. Am I wrong. I don't have an owners manual but may have to get one. Any advise. Thanks :gr_patrio

There is no gas mileage computer on the overhead display in 97. It only togles between the temperature and the compass. Dodge wasn't too high tech when they came out with these.

Yupp, right on the money, Mine shows ouside temp, direction headed, and i can only toggle between metric or standard temp. Or i can turn it off.

I wish it has all the gas mileage and info like that, but its still really nice to have the temp, and even the direction is a nice thing to have too.

Don't have that fancy mechanism in my '96. Just a set of overhead lights and a nifty sunglasses holder up there

That MPG estimator is way off anyhow. The one in a Durango I was test driving several days ago had 18.6 avg MPG. :gr_bs:

I too have a 97 with the comp/temp gauge, i think pressing the comp/temp button just turns the display on and off at least its like that on mine to :gr_patrio
