Matt explained it already in the simple version. I.E. They flow better then the square port.

The other side of it is a long story. I'll touch on it.

Since the Hemi heads design was introduced (many, many yrs ago)it's been great on the intake and not so great on the exhaust. When you look at Intake to Exhaust CFM ratio. 70% or better exhaust to intake ratio has been a rule of thumb for as long as I can rememmber. The last place you want to remove material is on the short side. That just makes the port turbulant and flow less. So,,,you have to remove it else were. The D shape is proven and fit's nicely to the round header flange.(we first did it 3 yrs ago) Plus the fast moving air helps pull the intake charge in during valve overlap.

So for those that have round tube headers with the round flange. It's an option that doesn't cost anymore then the square port opening.

What are your thoughts on polishing the combustion chamber or the exhaust ports?

Any polishing should have been done before the valve job and decking. The gain would be very small. It's hard to put a # on it,, but I doubt you'd see more then 5 hp in a back to back test on a engine dyno.

The down side if you slip and hit the seat would be more.

Polishing the combustion chamber does reduce carbon build up and can reduce detonation by reducing hot spots. The last picture was the final finish of my combusion chamber.

That's nice but I don't need it shiny like that. I just want to get rid of the potential hot spots. Notice the area between the valves and then the obvious spot.

Congrats on the new setup 360plus. I think you'll love that cam bro. Better hold on to your socks at launch with the new gears/cam/head combo. Almost guaranteed a 3-wheel peel on 4wd launches, sweet.

Since I can't get the damn thing out of AWD, I can only hope that someday that becomes true. Not being able to spin the tires makes life really boring.

You've really stepped things up man. Glad to see you installing some goodies, I know you have been waiting to do this for a while. I only hope to follow your path down the road.

LOL what do you want from me? I've been installing goodies since day one. I've had a very strategic plan in my head even before I got the truck home. The horsepower was way down towards the bottom of the list and I'm just now getting there. It was at the bottom because I have a problem of neglecting everything else on a vehicle once I start tapping into the engine. I didn't want to make that same mistake with this truck, so everything else came first.

This is truly one of the best all around trucks on this site. Looks freakin' AMAZING and now has the performance to back it up :rck: :rck: :rck:
Woooo there big fella. Let's not get ahead of ourselves just yet. Everything still has to be installed and then I'll need a big hand of help from Sean to get the thing tuned. I doubt that stock 345 cubic inches will feel at home in there after everything else is said and done, so there's always more to do. Thanks for the props anyway.
