down the interstate at about 70mph, RPM's where right about 2000, then it suddenly starts downshifting/upshifting on it's own. I've got a 97 1500, about 80K on it. Any ideas on this problem?

The transducer solenoid pack is most likely the cause. Common problem that goes out in the Dodge Trannies.
