I Want Drag Shocks!! Which Ones??

862 Views 24 Replies 11 Participants Last post by  wbw2
I am ready to install some Drag Shocks on my truck, and I am looking at the Comp Engineering adjustable shocks...I think the part# I need is 2610, but can anyone here verify that before I buy them? I am ready to buy ASAP, so any help is appreciated.

Ask Brad he already has them.
He bought the wrong ones though. He told me to figure out which ones are right because he needs to get the right ones as well. Here is a link to the 2610's...

Brian...Check out this old thread...based on this info, do you think I will be fine with the 2610's, or should I try the shorter ones?? I'm also going to ask Brad which ones he bought so that I know not to screw up and buy the wrong size.

did you ever find out which ones to order?
I do not think that Comp Engineering makes the correct shocks for our trucks.... I use them as well but they are not a proper fit.... you can make them work but I would rather use the correct ones.... QA1 makes some I do believe, you can make the Comps work but you will have to center them in the bottom and bolt them securely ( the Comps are too narrow for the Dodge setup, on the top you will need to retain the stock shock upper components as the upper portion of the Comp shock is too short to use what comes in the package.... I have run mine for over 30,000 miles with no probs... but you have to take the shocks out to adjust them and I really do not like running 90/10 on the street.... QA1s can be adjusted on the vehicle and have 10 settings instead of Comps 3.... Qa1s are on my wish llist....

the ones I am using are for a Camero.... can't remember the #, I am thinking a early 70s model Camero....

I'm gonna go with the 2610's...I'm gonna see if AIRRAM can get them for me, and if he cant, then I will buy them from Summit.
Dave, I lookd at those also, but last time I checked they didnt have one for our application...did you find some that fit??
Well I ordered a set of the Competition Engineering Front Shocks

C2600 Front Drag Shock; Extended Length: 14.10; Collapsed Length: 9.00; Diameter: 1.63

My current Shock is a Nitto Nitro Active Drop Shock.

Extended Length: 13.75 Collapsed Length 9.25

The 2600s should work.

I'll let you all know on Saturday.

Do you only run these for track days or day to day driving as well?

they're adjustable. they can be used for both without much sacrifice in handling.

Brad tried the 2600's once, but they were too short and actually hurt his times...thats why I went with the 2610's...

But you have more drop than him, so hopefully they will work out for you.
Yeah, I have a 5" drop up front so I sure hope they work. If not I'll just send them back and get some longer ones.

Dude, I can't wait till your truck is up and running. Its gonna be sick. ;)

Brad...this is an OLD thread. I have had the 2610's installed for almost a year now.
Brad,

So you tried the Comp Eng 2600s on a stock hight suspension and found out they were too short right?

you only have 2.5"-3" coil area drop thought that effects shock travel as the spindles didnt change the travel of them at all,so the 5" drop really dont matter on the frt shock length but the 2.5"-3" part of the coil area drop does.

No...he tried the 2600's with his 2/4 drop. I think you are gonna end up needing the 2610's
