Try drilling hole from bottom

Thought this idea was worth a try on some high mileage northern rust belt wheel hubs on a 2003 3/4 ton Ram.

One thought on helping to keep the metal shavings out of the hub internals is to drill the hole on the bottom of the hub. Still need to mag. the bits/tools, but I let gravity help give me some added assurance. Definitely all about good bits and taking extra care.

This assumes you can lift the truck high enough to give you the room to work from below.

Not sure how much adding grease in this fashion will help.... but I don't see it hurting as long as one doesn't blow out the seals. On old hubs its worth a try.
