Hi Guys...thanks in advance. I just replaced some emmission parts on this truck and assume that the computer needs to be reset for the check engine light to go out....what's the process?

Most of the time you will have to clear the codes with a scanner, resetting the pcm won't do it. You can try by disconnecting the positive cable at the battery, then put the key in and turn it to the start position and hold it there for around 15-30 sec. Then put the cable back on and start it up.

Thanks, Andrew....I'll try the cable thing. Would Auto Zone have the scanner you're referring to or is it dealer thing? Assuming they would let me use it that is....may have to buy one?

Yeah, I think Auto Zone may even be able to clear them for free. You would have to check. They should have a scanner that can do it though if not.

you got two ways to do this. the scanner way, it will work or on your ECM, unplug the connector closest to the firewall. leave it unplugged for a few minutes and start it up.

i try to avoid messing with batt cables. i hate resetting my stereo.

That's true, it is a pain to reset.
