Got it! It took a thin bladed screw driver slid in between the console and the headliner, and some nerve to apply a good amount of pressure to it. Finally it just released the clips, and it was simple..
WOW...Did that break anything. I had to remove the lenses over the lights, and there were 2 screws...1 under each light. I hope you didn't break anything when you popped it off.
Upon further inspection, I believe it will just snap right back up. I'll let ya know when the paint drys and I put it back up. I also went an extra step, and cut a whole for my garage door opener. I think it'll look pretty cool when it's back up tonight.

Did ya consider picking up the overhead console that has the 3 garage door openers feature? My '05 Grand Caravan option has it, but I didn't opt for it when I ordered my '05 2500...
Nice work! I don't think I've ever seen anyone paint the overhead console on one of these trucks. You can probably find a replacement bezel to go around the a/c and radio controls in the same color. That would look really sweet combined with the overhead console.
looks great..good job!! I need to remove mine and dynamat it....it's rattling...I stopped the lights from rattling, just have to do the metal plate on the back side (I've been told there is one, maybe one of you can confirm?)
I already stopped the rattling from both doors and center console latch, next up is both mirrors, overhead console, and dash..then i'm done...until i build my new box and shake this truck apart again....
By metal plate, do you mean the two reflectors above the lights in the console? Those were loose on mine, I could see how it may rattle. Also, theres this fin down the middle of the of console about an inch and a half long, which slides into the housing on the roof. I ground it off to fit my garage door opener, but I would fit some of that dynamat around that piece if ya dont cut it off.
I figured it out. You have an 03 that was made in 02. The ones made in 02 had a rounded edge at the lower back section of the side windows. I guess the overhead console was something that changed as well.
Not too sure what it looks like, that's just what I've been told.....as soon as my freakin paycheck comes in, I'm gonna go get some dynamat and get to work....
Does anyone by chance know the part number for the clips that the two screws go into. I installed a used console and it was missing the clips. The dealer has a clue and the microfiche doesn't show.
