just bought my 97 dakota. timing chain needs to be replaced. got it replaced but shop said it should have had more oil on it then it did. I'm thinking maybe oil pump, where should my oil pressure gauge read at normal. That way i can know if my oil pressure is low

Btw stupid owners befor me had 2 quarts oil too much in it. :banghead:

i have the V6, so oil presure may be different between that and the 8's.

I doubt the V6's oil pressure will be any different than the V8's. The V6 generates higher rpm's than the V8 at almost all speeds. If it's above 40 that's a good start! If you're in doubt, stop by a hardware/auto parts store and glance in a Haynes repair manual, it'll state most of the engine info in there. The one for my Taurus was quite detailed! It saved me a few times on maintenance.
