I have a very loud clunking noise from the front end of my 2001 caravan. The mechanic and I both agreed it must be the struts and they were replaced, including new upper strut mounts. $390 later i still have the clunking sound and the mechanic can not find where its coming from. Everything in the front end seems good. What are we missing...Help please.
Anyone else ever experience this?

have a look at the motor mounts/transmission mounts as well

You can check them by putting the parking brake on, and while pressing down hard on the brake, gently move the gear selector from drive to reverse; a helper can watch the engine to see if there is serious rocking movement front to back.

worn engine mounts can lead to some clunking noises

just a thought

I'd be pretty PO'd at my mechanic if he/she couldn't find a bad sway bar bushing.
