i was wondering if anyone could help me figure out why my headlights are out..

i drive a 97 dodge ram and the right headlight went out a while ago and i figured out that giving it a little slap turned it back on, and eventually it stopped working. having the highbeams on would work, but eventually both went out and wont come on even with highbeams on.

any help would be appreciated! thanks

Check to see if you are getting 12V to the connector. If you are make sure there is a good connection. If there is replace the bulb. You can also do a continuity test of the bulb. If you don't have a DVOM then remove the headlight and use jumper wires from the batt to the bulb. If it comes on it's good.
Let me know what you find.
