I have this dang coolant leak that is driving me crazy and I am too cheap to take it in to a mechanic. I have replace all the usual items, pump, all hoses, etc. It has stopped those leaks, not I am leaking again. Looks like I the gasket on the Timing Chain cover died, probably when I did the pump?

Since I removed the water pump, it leaks more, at the seal, which tells me I am on the right track (this round)

Anyway, my delima is removing the Harmonic Balancer. Any tricks on the loosing the bolt? I have soaked with WD40, beat with a hammer and so far no go. I do have a rod that I am using to prevent it from turning. Am I correct in that it is a normal thread and not reversed? Either way I tried both directions.

Finally got it. Took 2 days of soaking with WD40 and a bigger pry bar.

Looking at the Timing cover seal, i am confident that this will finally stop the coolant leak.

I was lucky, I was able to use an impact wrench on mine! Whizzed it right off!

impact wrench for me too. poof its off.
be sure and replace your front crank seal in timing cover.
