Governor Pressure Sensor?

Great Site!!

This morning, I started my 2001 Dodge Ram 3.9L and the MIL or check engine light stayed on. I then drove to work and the trans was acting up. I did searches on the web to find out the problem and discovered how to get the error codes. I then performed the test on my truck and it gave me a P-1762 which comes to be a Governor Pressure sensor error. This would explain why from a dead stop, my truck had no power and when I did stop the gears were not down shifting. If this goes out, you lose 1st & 2nd gear in the trans.

My questions are:
-) Is this easy to replace and where would I get the part?
-) Where in the trans is this located?
-) Would the trans need to be dropped to replace this?

Pls help!!

No, the trans won't need to be dropped...only the pan. You shoud replace the solanoid and switch/temp sensor, they will be around $150. I suggest you get a fsm for your truck, it's a great investment. It's not a difficult job if your mechanical. Otherwise a trany shop can do it no problem with a fluid change.

Good luck!
