Hit a cow elk on Monday 6/23/08 at about midnight. Going 75mph down the interstate when she just jumped out in front of me. Nothing else I could do but hit her square on. Good news is they will be fixing the truck so insurance will be buying my new hood and clear headlights. Truck is a 2006 Big Horn 1500

Appreciate it.... Thankfully I was wearing my seatbelt only thing that bothers me is the airbags didn't go off but still I wasn't injured so no biggie I guess.

Yeah thats kind of scary that the airbags didnt go off. Looks like the hood and radiator support took the grunt of the impact. Bumper looks pretty good though. In Central IL we have deer that do the same thing only they usually hit the bumper and then hit the windshield. Glad your OK.

Its at the place where it was towed to there. Was just moved to the body shop this morning. Guy doing the body work is a friend of the family and he said he might be able to have it back to me in around 4 weeks but I won't hold my breath.

Once again, this explains all the Big A$$ Bumpers I see when I travel Hwy 10. I've learned you never drive a night, not even behind the Semi's....

The airbags probably didn't deploy because the bumper didn't crumple.

Glad you are okay.

Airbags suck. For every person they help they injure a thousand, and add thousands to the repair bill. If you don't hit something that stops you dead, why set a bomb off if your face? The new vehicles are good, it's the first 5 years they were used that the manufacturers should be forced to update. My rant is over...

Glad nobody was hurt! :D

I'd like to see the factual source of that little claim.

Glad you're ok, JerryFan. Thank God the thing didn't come thru the windshield on ya.
