Hey guys I have a w350 with a floating diff, am doing a brake job on the rear and noticed that my Haynes repair manual says to pack the bearings with grease when reinstalling. Am I wrong that the bearings on a full froating are lubed by gear grease from the differential. also thinking about a tranny swap in same truck from an automatic to stick, it is a 4x4 so what problems am I looking at in this undertaking. Thanks Dennis

grease is recommended to lube bearings til oil can get to em. going from auto to manual requires alot of parts. what year truck do you have.
