New fuel pump runs half a second, then shuts off when key is turned to "on". If I then turn the key to "start" engine fires for half a second but doesn't start, then just cranks. Fuse is good, relay bench tested ok, and I have swapped out the relay with a known good one. Does the same thing, exactly, every time.
Some history - I replaced the old fuel pump because the car wouldn't start after driving. I would go to a store 5 miles away, go inside for a few minutes, come out and it would crank but not start, wouldn't fire at all. After awhile it would start normally. The waiting time kept getting longer and longer. I could start it sometimes if I turned the key on and off several times then turning it to "start". After getting towed home when even that didn't work I replaced the fuel pump. This is where I am now, trying to start it with new fuel pump.
Any idea would really be appreciated. Thanks for reading!
