Can I be a member of the 318 club. Technically I don't own a 318, but it started out that way. I have had 4 318's in my life so far and They have never let me down, even when I was a young teenager and drove my 79 power wagon with no oil. Thanks in advance.

I had thought about it but I think for now it's fine the way it is so that new people can find the old thread for info. That problem should be solved anyway if this thread is stickied. What would be great would be if we could just keep our old thread going, but that's not likely to happen. And I'm surprised it's not closed yet already.

I hate to say this but I think I'm going to put off the cutout until I replace the rest of my exhaust so I'll have it all welded up. I'm thinking of getting a 2.5" into 3" magnaflow y-pipe into a 3" hi-flow cat into a 3" cutout, reduced into my existing 2.5" in/ dual out magnaflow, and out the existing duals.
That way when the cutout's open it will never be restricted down to a single 2.5 pipe.
I'm not sure when I'll get this done, possibly over my spring break or summer vacation. In the mean time I'm thinking of getting a 50mm TB and a Hypertech, and also adjusting my TV cable to hold the gears longer to about 5K rpm.
What does everyone think?

That should definitely flow enough for a N/A truck, especially if you were to get headers sometime down the road. I'd say for a TB there are two ways, shaving off the air horns for free, or going all out and getting the fastman. I'm not sure if shaving the air horns off does much, but the fastman is supposedly good for 10hp. I'm really thinking about doing some performance mods because my truck seems like it can't get out of its own shadow. Me and a friend did a 0-60 run just for shits and giggles tonight and came up with almost 13 seconds hahaha. What a speed demon I drive....

A couple friends of mine were watching that video I made in my advanced tech drawing class today and one pointed out that I did like a 12sec 0-60 so I'm looking for anything that will add to my top end, which I think the above exhaust combined with a 50mm tb like a Fastman will definately increase the top end. I just may have to pull this exhaust forward on the list and push the Hypertech back again...
I just wish I could raise the rev limiter so I can adjust the TV cable more. I'm going to look at it this weekend and maybe adjust it so it'll hold the gear to 5k instead of 4800.
Just wondering if you know what the stock rev limiter is. I've hit it once when manually shifting at I THINK about 5200. So if I have it shift at 5k it'll be safe.

Hmm, I believe it is less than 5 grand. The red line on the tach is at about 4,800 on mine, so I'm assuming that it is limited at less than 5,000-I too have hit the limiter but it bounces off of it so quickly that you can't really tell where it's at. I was formulating a plan between my post and yours....saving my money for this:

For some reason I can't open your link. "Page cannot be displayed" crap!

As for the rev limiter, I'm postitive it's over 5K because I've held it in 1st to about 5100 a couple days ago. Why I did I don't know! I guess I was just fooling around!

Oh yes the 390 stroker!! Just imagine the power you'd get if you added a supercharger and/or nitrous to that.
Heck just imagine having the power of just the stroker kit!!
I believe someone on one of these dodge forums bored/stroked their 318 in their durango to over 400 cubes, maybe 412 or 413.
But I think the 390 is the best for safety purposes.

It would be great, the only problem is that you wouldn't see the engine's true potential unless you also put in a new cam (and with a bigger cam come rods, rockers, and springs), heads, and maybe an intake manifold, so it would get pricey. And it's also getting deep into the engine so you either have to know what you're doing or pay for a mechanic to do it. But when it's done you will have a beast...I might start saving my pennies.

Or I could get nitrous. Anyone here know anything about running nitrous on a 318 and how well they hold up? I was thinking about a 100 shot.

Nitrous would be more cost effective because strokers are so expensive (though they are awesome when done!)
I don't know much at all about nitrous on the 318s though so hopefully someone else can answer that.
