Hi everyone.. Just a quick opinion here..

The stats..
98 Stratus 2.4L
95k on the engine.

The prob: Smelling exhaust in the car when cold. Car is really loud (exhaust wise) poor fuel mileage, (115 miles & the gage is between 3/4 and half, this is from a full tank)
Went under the car and on the manifold where the 4 pipes meet up to go into the Cat before the flange. It is all blue and has a nasty crack. Cant see any further up. Auto shop tells me the manifold is bad as well as the head gasket leaks. I knew this already. (1/2 a quart every 3k) Changed oil to Castrol High Mileage and it has seemed to really slow the leak up)

Anyways. NAPA auto parts lists the part for $189.
Local repair shop quoted 300 to do the job..

Went to ebay.. Found a replacement seller part.. $30.00 plus 18 to ship.
There are a few on ebay like this one.. All brand new. Like OEM. Quality replacement.

My question is for 50 bucks plus the 95 the auto shop charges to replace it. What would you do? Is the quality of the manifold good enuf? I mean the manifolds are all made of cast iron. Were looking at a bill of 150 compared to 300.. Plus sensors if needed.

I do look at the feedback of the sellers and see of people say they are selling junk.

Any input?

Thanks!

I have a 99 2.4 that had a cracked eshaust manifold. The original on the car was a solid one piece flange. My mechanic found a used one for $75. The replacement was an upgraded and was split down the middle, hopefully to prevent future problems. As far as the head gasket, 90K and no problems yet.
