Needing some help. Was driving last night and my 2004 dodge ram 1500 3.7v6 suddenly started making a whine and clicking noise while coming up a hill. I basically drifted it the rest of the way home and found that I hardly had any oil and it was kinda thick. I added oil and the ticking noise got quieter. I let it set over night and started it this morning and didn't hear it until the engine warmed up. It gets louder when I press the gas and the rpms go over 2000 - 2500. The oil is dark and im going to change it tomorrow (not running the truck until i can fix it) but im trying to figure out what may be wrong so I can fix it. I'm hoping it didn't mess anything up

I think it sounds like it threw a lifter but not sure

Thank you in advance and any help is greatly appreciated

Engine knocks are never good. It could be anything if it got that low on oil. When you say low oil, was it just a little showing on the dipstick or was it like almost no oil in the pan?
