I have a 1985 Dodge Ram with a 5.9. I have a 727 trans behind the motor. I’m going to replace the intake gasket and valve cover gaskets. I was wondering what size cam could I put in my truck. This is what’s done to the truck, elderblock air gap intake, 600 cam Holley, long tube headers, and a 355 ring and pinion. That’s it for now wondering if a 545 intake and exhaust camshaft would work.

So will the cam choice work, with the new lifters. Is there anything else that will need to be changed. Will I gain some performance and sound. Will it be ok with 827 transmission

Not in California ,it probably won't pass biennial smog test.
