Hey all, I am fairly new to the board, I have a 2005 Durango ST. Picture is in the gallery. I have had the truck for about 2 months, I purchased it with 6,800 miles, and I just hit the 9,000 miles, so I am going to do the oil change. What oil do you recommend for the durango? Will it be good for the Northeast Winter? I thank you all for your help.

I just went synthetic... It may be just a mental thing, but i think it helped the engine run a bit smoother and it got more throaty especially at WOT.

Definitely better on starts. We'll see how it cold starts. synthetic is also supposed to be better for winters becuase it has a lower freezing point. Try it and see, it is a little more expensive, but it lasts longer and doesnt break down as quickly as regular oil.

My mechanic said theat i could probably go to about 10000 km before the next oil change, but reccommended 8000. Only time will tell how it worked, but for now I am pretty happy with it.

I use Amsoil with their new oil filters so I change oil every 7500 miles and filters at 20K, even though I just started with those. Truck runs great and oil seems pretty clean when I change. I am almost to 35K right now. I also added it to the Tranny and it seems to shift alot smoother as well and just overall run better. That is what I have been using in all of my vehicles for almost 3 years now.

I run Amsoil as well and noticed a 1-2 mpg better mileage on the highway once I switched. The best I've gotten so far on highway is 21mpg, I was really trying to see how well it could do over 200 miles so I never tromped on it.
