I presume you mean that, after disengaging the outer end from the steering knuckle, you are having trouble getting the inner end loose from the transaxle

with the van solidly supported, you can use a pickle fork and use it to pry the shaft out of the transmission casing; tap on the pickle fork handle with a soft mallet - it should pop out

man it was a B----

i removed the outer shaft by removing the inside rubber...got a pipe wrench held it down and beat the living crap out of it ....


finally out tho

blah

this thing has 150k on it. i'm sure i'll be back here to get some help!

Boy oh Boy - that just does not sound good

I would pop the seal out of the transmission case (after all that beating and banging the seal is probably shot) and replace and also see if you can figure out why is was so difficult to remove - because, really, the shaft should pop out of the case with little or no difficulty and i have no idea why it was such a struggle

Any one out there with a suggestion

I've replaced both of mine, on my '95 voyager, with no problems during removal...
