My 04 D AWD has a clunk noise when I drive about 20mph and than coast, and then accelerate again. I mostly here it on the acceleration, but sometimes on deceleration. I thought I have heard it make this noise when taking off from a stop on light acceleration when it shifts from 2nd to 3rd. I asked the dealer to check it out when I was getting a brake job, they claimed they couldn't duplicate and it was and I quote from my receipt, " Sound the engine and trani make when everything is lining up". I haven't taken one of these apart, but what comes out of alignment. It's not like your flexplate and torque converter are free floating right? I mentioned this in the dodgeboy.net forum and someone responded that his Dakota also did it and it was the learing trani. What???
