Recieved my cutout from Nick at Air Ram yesterday and installed it tonight after work. I have a 2wd manual 4.7 so found a new way to run the wires to the cab. Once I get my hands on a digital camera I'll take pics and do a small write up.

The sound is incredible. A quick drive playing with the cutout and you will be hooked. As you pass people are swiveling thier necks hard enough to cause whiplash looking for a dragster, dogs are whining, old men are showing the main side affect of viagra, young children are crying and holding on to mom, car alarms are going off, ricers are vibrating to your exhaust, you have no clue if the radio is still on or not, cars are swerving as they try to figure out where the noise is coming from, elderly women are swooning, somewhere in the back of your mind that damn lady from the margarine commercial years ago is saying "it's not nice to fool with mother nature". Turn around in a convience store and it empties as everyone comes outside to see what is making the noise. WOT ratchets up the insanity even more ... birds rise in mass for blocks around, jaws drop and cell phone calls are ended, surely dishes are falling off shelves in the houses that you pass, you can no longer hear the car alarms going off but you catch the flashing headlights out of the corner of your eye. Downshift and let the engine wind down and atheists start converting for the sound proves that there must be a god. The dead stir in thier graves and you will be certain that somewhere this sound will be enshrined in a sacred recording so that future generations will be awed as well.

At idle it burbles and is pleasingly loud, no matter what rpm you are at it never sounds fake it never sounds off, it sounds like Good Old American V* at its best.

Then simply push the button and all the glorious sound disapears as it is magically transformed back to stock and my plain white truck fades back into the background of traffic, invisible again. Of course my ears ring for another 15 minutes or more.

LOL... Let me guess what you do for a living.... If you dont write books yet you ought to start thinking about it. That was very creative and really fun to read, thank you for your write up... I too enjoy the sound of my 4.7L with the cut out open... I honestly feel it sounds like a much bigger V-8. When you tell people its only a 287ci they are shocked.

You know... I have thought the same thing... I actually like the sound of the 4.7L over the HEMI... thats kinda strange, it does sound stout for its 287ci's.

I have had HEMI owners tell me they thought I had a HEMI because it was so loud. :rck:

Now, having revved right next to Matt before, I have to say there is no competition for a HEMI with open exhaust (especially open headers). :D

I've had Dodge neophytes baffled when I tell them I have a 287 (They automatically assume something loud HAS to be a Hemi). Two guys here have 4X4 Hemi Q/C's, one 1500 and a 2500. The 1500 guy was shocked when he couldn't walk away from me (two lane, I stayed right on his ass, lol).

Hey Nick, what would be the advantage of single cutout as opposed to dual? what about sound wise?
Performance wise... on a 287ci... Not much difference if any at all...

Sound wise... I would say a HUGE difference as it would be twice as loud. Dont get me wrong, a single cut out is Loud... but two would be ear deffining.

A month later and I am still hooked on it. There is nothing like slowly cruising out of the mall parking lot, pushing the clutch in and reving it up to say 4000 rpm to see how many car alarms you can get going off in one aisle. The light show of flashing lights is quite impressive.

Seriously though the sound of the 4.7 through a single cutout is the best sounding exhaust I have ever heard on the street. The cutout also let's you mute it when it would be unwise to be extremely noticeable. Say... coming home at 3am or doing something else unwise. It also eliminates any drone and allows conversation if you so desire when traveling at 75 to 80 mph.

I have found that it has decreased my mpg's because I just have to rev it more often or let it go higher in the band before shifting just so I can hear it.

By far this is my favorite mod on any vehicle, I wish I had found it sooner.

Thanx for the compliments on my writing abilities.

Your foot has decreased the MPG because of the cutout. But I think we all know what you mean!!!

Quick question. Will the DMH cutouts void your factory warranty? Also how do I know if i need single or dual cutouts?

That just convinced me to go buy a dhm cut out next pay check, you should write bed time stories about dodge trucks.

(Gripping the wheel, his knuckles
went white with desire! The wheels
of his Hemi exploding on the
highway like a slug from a .45.
True death: 400 horsepower of
maximum performance piercing the
night...This is Black Sunshine)

Ok so I cut and pasted some old skool Zombie, still sounds cool!

You know quite a few people have mentioned they liked that review and I have even found it cut and pasted on another forum. If air ram would only pay commisions.... ;) Don't forget the power wire too.....

The cutout is by far my favorite toy I have ever bought myself in my adult hood. The mattress mate (I mean wife) has called the switch at various times the "man button", the "agression button", the "testosterone button", the "little boy button" and last but not least the "F^*&% Y*&%! button".

My newest use is to let idiots know I am there, motorcyclists for years have been saying that "Loud Pipes Save Lives" and they have a valid point. For some reason I cannot fathom, there are some drivers who once they put a cell phone to thier ear can no longer see the HUGE three ton BIG white long bed with a big white camper shell on it. But.... push the loud button and they seem to notice me suddenly and get back in thier own lane. It may be because they can no longer hear thier phone, that's ok as long as they don't try to share my lane.

I do have a standard... if they don't get the point right away a simple push of the clutch and rev to 4000 rpm next to them will always help them see me.
