I am looking to do a little maintenance and was perusing my Haynes manual to see what info they had on the Dana full floating rear axel. It talks about greasing the bearings on the rear axel when you put it back together. Is this accurate? Now I have never done this work before and could be out to lunch here but I thought the lube in the rearend should be maintained at a level that would provide lubrication to these bearings through the axel tubes. Can anybody shed some light on this for me? Thanks.

Grease the axle bearings... The oil lubricates the differental (center) section.
Make sure the bearings are clean, dry and not pitted or worn.
