Cummins will spend $250 million to retool its Columbus Engine Plant and to hire from 600 to 800 new workers to make high-performance diesel engines, beginning in 2010.

Those light-duty diesel engines will be made for DaimlerChrysler, which plans to put them in vehicles weighing less than 8,500 pounds.

This once again confirms that the new light-duty Cummins diesels currently in development are being made for Dodge Ram trucks and SUV's. :)
