I’ve got an 02 1500 with the 4.7 engine in it. When going into a headwind the thing is a total dog. Is it alright to turn off overdrive when cruising at 65-70 mph down the highway into the wind? It is usually sitting around 2,800-3,000 rpm. Otherwise it’s just downshifting, speeding up, then going back into overdrive, then losing speed, and downshifting and going through that over and over and over.

Won't hurt it all, in fact will help it live longer since it won't be shifting in and out of OD constantly.
