I have noticed the past year or so, when my rig is cold and I throw it into reverse and back slowly, it tends to slip out. I then have to move to park or neutral and back to reverse it engages again.

Could this be a sign of bad things to come or could there be adjustments (bands, etc) that can be made?

It runs tip top when warm.

Thanks! :gr_patrio

Next time you go drive your truck, try this: start truck and put tranny in nuetral for about 20 seconds. Then shift to Reverse and see how she does.

My truck had similar prob. . Make sure you check tranny fluid while it is in Neutral !! Mine was showing full in park , I was 1 1/2 Quarts low when checked in neutral .. This helped a lot but was still slipping when cold . SO I changed tranny filter and fluid and while I was there I adjusted bands . Which was suprisingly easy .. I tell you what a BIG difference , Its like I have a brand new tranny again !!!! Hopefully this helps , I know I was frustrated . But this was a simply fix , cheap 2 .....
