Cleaner/wax, exactly as named. They usually contain either chemical or abrasive attributes for the "cleaning" phase, which has the ability to remove surface contaminants and light oxidation. Also a small amt of insignificant carnauba protection, usually no longer durability then 2 weeks.
Clay on the other hand has the ability "when properly used", to pull and or sheer contaimants which have become embedded in the surface. No cleaner/wax can do this. Clay products will remove previously applied protectant, so always follow up with a polish and sealant.
