Can the fuel filter in my 95 Ram 1500 be removed and an inline filter be placed along the fuel line somewhere (outside of the tank)? :help:

I can't see as why not. If you have the right tools and the right parts and some imagnation then you can do anything....I sound like a self help person..lol

Well I dont think u want to mess with the intake fuel filter, and I'm not sure if there is an inline but yeah you could put one in just about anywhere. But the filter in the tank is all 1 unit(filter, pump, sending unit).so if u take it off the pump, it's just that more of a chance to screw up the whole pump-250-300bucks since I bought one. "If it aint broke, don't fix it!"

You also have to think about the 45 psi fuel pressure that that pump puts out for the fuel injection.....

by manufacture specs. you can move the filter due to the fact that they caculated the lenght of the line from the filter to the motor to equal you fuel pressure if you do move it you will either loose pressure or gain but more than likley you will losse the pressure then the truck will run crappy

It's not that big of a deal to change out the filter. Just don't have very much fuel in the tank. Like run it 60 or so miles past when the fuel light comes on. there is 2 nuts to pull and then drop it down slowly. I broke a line the first time I did it ( probably because It was two heavy wiyh fuel) But I spliced in a regular piece of fuel line. Seems to work fine, 2 years. you shouldn't have to get in that tank that often. Besides that filter is huge compared to a regular inline filter.
