Hello,
I am in the process of installing new cam gears and chain kit, and Oil pump on this 4.7 cid engine. I rotated the crank pully to the TDC Top Dead Center mark on the chain cover before ever removing cover bolts. The driver side gear 12 o'clock mark was at top dead vertical. After removing all the chain tensions slides and chains, I noted when I remove the passenger side cam gear the detent pin mark is more like 10-11 oclock position. Will I be ok to rotate the camshaft clock wise to allow the pin to enter the 12 o'clock gear opening during install. I am beginning to think this wear difference (170,000) may be the reason I have had a misfire code. suggestions are appreciated.

Your Thoughts?
Thanks

It's not unusual for cam gears to move when chains/belts are removed. They're holding valve springs under tension, and when you remove the chain the valves close and push the cam lobes back.
