Alright so I'm thinking about buying a 2000 intrepid and was wondering what kind of gas mileage to expect and if these cars tend to run into any major problems. Like tranny or engine problems etc. Any info is well appreciated. Thanks in advance.

First off, how many miles are on the car?
Is it a 2.7?
What kind of general condition is the car in?

Generally speaking, I would steer clear of it if it is a 2.7
Especially if you don't know the maintenance history of the car.
If you still want it, I would talk the price down.
The 2.7 is a maintenance whore.

If it is a 3.2 or a 3.5, and it has over 100k, need to find out if the 100k service has been done (timing belt, and water pump)
If not, it needs to be done ASAP.

Well I hear it should be 3.5. I will be checking it later today.

Also wanted to ask how difficult it is to get to the water pump and timing chain in these cars? Cause my Dakota is a nightmare but I still love my truck. Also wondering about the gas mileage a rough estimate will suffice.

Mitsubishi V6 more than likely.
Some people didn't like them, I never had a problem with them.

You can get a 2.7L trep (blowed engine) pretty cheap!! then just drop in a 3.2/3.5L engine and your set......
