Gents - Blew the V10 in my '98 2500 4x4. With fuel prices the way they are I'm trying to weigh my options. One thing that I thought of was putting in a smaller motor. No longer need the pulling power of the V10. Has anyone ever replaced a v10 with the smaller V8 (5.2)? Is it do-able?

Thanks in advance.

You would have to swap out the trans. The V8's don't get much better milage then the V10 does.

Stick w/ the V-10. You already have a 3/4 ton truck, a v8 will work harder to move it then a V-10. I had a F-250 w/ a V-10 and new a guy who went smaller and lost milaege. If you go v-8, go diesel, but that's way out of $ effectiveness to convert.
